Match Preview

Cross Keys v Connacht Eagles - British & Irish Cup

Cross Keys host Connacht Eagles on Saturday at Pandy Park in the 3rd week of this season's British & Irish Cup.

The Eagles previously visited Gwent on October 13th when they headed to Rodney Parade to take on Newport and were defeated by 18-14. For the visitors from Ireland points were scored via a try for winger Matt Healy and 3 successful penalties for centre Tadhg Leader. For Newport tries came from flanker, Craig Atwell and centre Will Richards, with former Pontypool outside half Tom Hancock kicking a conversion and 2 penalties. The Eagles were also defeated in their second game by Newcastle who triumphed comfortably by 34 points to 3 at Dubarry Park in Athlone.

The Keys were of course defeated in their last fixture against Irish opposition when Munster A triumphed over Keys (31-12) in the final of this competition in Musgrave Park back in April. This time around Keys have struggled slightly in the competition with defeats in their two opening games, at Newcastle (52-5) and at home to Newport (28-24). So Keys and Connacht both head in to this one looking for they're first win in the competition this term.

Hopefully Keys can repeat last week's result and performance when they overwhelmed Swansea with a superb 48-0 victory. Please note kick off is at 2.00pm.
