Match Preview

Cross Keys v Newcastle Falcons B&I Cup

Cross Keys face Newcastle Falcons in the rearranged British & Irish Cup game at Pandy Park on Friday evening.

The Falcons have runaway with Pool 4 and are considered outright favourites for the competition as well as the English Championship, of which they continue to be clear leaders. They lead pool 4 of the B&I Cup with a total of 22 points from their 5 games whilst they have a 16 point lead in the Championship with 61 points and 13 wins from 13 games.
Nottingham are their closest rivals in the table with 45 points. They are a Premiership club in all but name at present but that surely is not going to be the case for long.

In October Keys traveled to the North east to take on
Newcastle but had no answer to the Falcons dominance and it was the home side that came away with a comprehensive 52 points to 5 victory. Jonathan Lewis getting Keys only points with a try on the stroke of full time. To their credit Keys refused to give up but Newcastle, as they have been for most sides they have faced this season were simply too strong for the Keys.
