By David Glastonbury | 12/05/2017

Cross Keys head to the Gnoll this SUNDAY afternoon for the Principality Premiership Tier 2 Play Off Semi Final against Neath.

Following the Welsh All Blacks victory over Bridgend last Friday evening it was the Welsh All Blacks that joined Keys, Newport and Llanelli in completing the semi-final line-up. Neath finished Tier 2 in second place so face Keys who finished in 3rd place whilst Newport, who finished top of tier 2 face Llanelli in Saturday’s semi-final at Rodney Parade. The winners of each semi final will then meet on the weekend of 20th May to decide who will be Tier 2 champions. The venue for the final will take place at the home of one of the semi final winners and that will be decided by a draw to be made shortly after the final teams are known.

In the regular league season Keys comfortably defeated the Welsh All Blacks by 48 points to 3 back in September. Keys points came from a pair of tries by Scott Matthews and one each for Josh Prosser, Darren Hughes, Mathew Powell and Leon Andrews. Geraint Rhys Jones kicked all 6 conversions and a pair of penalties. Neath’s sole score came from the boot of full back Ed Howley who kicked a penalty. The Welsh All Blacks more than made up for that defeat when they trounced Keys at the Gnoll just over a month ago when they won by 59 points to 14. The home side crossed for a total of 8 tries which came from a pair by Kieran Williams and one each for Max Llewelyn, Aaron Grabham, Reuben Morgan-Williams, Chris Morgans, Geraint Llewelyn and Ed Howley, who also kicked all 8 conversions and a penalty for his side. The side’s also met in Round 2 of the National Cup in February at Pandy Park and it was Keys who secured a quarter final place with a 29 points to 10 victory.
