Cross Keys take on Bedwas at Bridge Field on Saturday in a crucial relegation battle in the Principality Premiership.
Like Keys, Bedwas find themselves fighting for their Principality Premiership future although at the moment, Bedwas find themselves in the first guaranteed ‘safe’ place but they have played one game more than 4 of the 5 teams below them. For Keys a victory over the Bridge Field side would probably (depending on bonus points) see them leap frog Bedwas in the table, although Keys will be relying on other results to climb out of the relegation zone themselves. However with plenty of rugby to come pulling out of the relegation zone at this stage doesn’t really change either side’s battle for the time being.
Back in October in the clash between the two sides at Pandy Park it was Bedwas who took the victory winning a highly entertaining clash by 44 points to 34. Tries for Keys came from a brace for Garin Price and one each for Srdan Majkic and Rory Budina. Jason Tovey added all 4 conversions and a pair of penalties. Bedwas’ points came via a pair of tries for Tom Rowlands with one each for Nathan Hudd and George Gasson plus a converted penalty try. Joseph Scrivens added 17 points via 4 conversions and 3 penalties.
The Keys have delayed naming their side for this crucial game as they await a number of late fitness checks. Once the side has been confirmed it will appear on the website.
