Bridgend Ravens v Cross Keys Preview & Team News

MATCH POSTPONED – DUE TO WEATHER AND PITCH CONDITIONS

Cross Keys take on Bridgend Ravens this Saturday at the Morganstone Brewery Field in the latest Principality Premiership fixture.

Following last week’s defeat at RGC1404 The Keys will be looking to bounce back to winning ways against the Ravens who had an excellent 16 points to 13 victory last week against their Ospreylian rivals Aberavon, which will no doubt have boosted their confidence after a run of 5 straight defeats. There is just one point separating the Ravens and the Keys with Keys currently occupying the relegation play off place as they sit in 12th position with the Ravens a point further back and currently sitting in 14th position, so Saturday’s result may well have a huge bearing on both sides as they enter the second half of the season.

Earlier this season, on the opening weekend an entertaining clash at Pandy Park saw The Keys come out on top with a 32 points to 25 victory. For Keys tries came from Nic Cudd, Todd James, Leon Andrews and Wes Cunliffe with Jason Tovey kicking 3 conversions and 2 penalties. The Ravens points came via a pair of tries for Aaron Grabham and one apiece for Nathan Edwards and Chris John. Will Holley kicked a conversion with Jamie Murphy adding a penalty for his side.

Turning thoughts back to this Saturday’s game and The Keys have confirmed their team and have kept changes to a minimum following last week’s defeat in Colwyn Bay. There are just 3 changes to the starting lineup with Richard Cornock replacing Gary Carpenter in the front row and in the backs the half back combination changes where Jason Tovey comes back in to Keys’ colours to replace Will Kelly at outside half, following his stint on permit with the Dragons and Dragons scrum half Rhodri Davies starts in place of Owain Leonard having previously appeared for Keys against Llanelli last month. On the bench Corey Nicholls could potentially make his return from a knee injury which has kept him out of action for over a year.

The Cross Keys side in full for Saturday’s game is:-

15. Leon Andrews
