Cross Keys v Bedwas Team News

Cross Keys welcome Bedwas to Pandy Park this coming Saturday in the Specsavers National Championship for the first match of 2020.

On the opening day of the season it was Bedwas who took the honours as they eased to a 41 points to 9 victory at Bridge Field. Keys could only muster 3 penalties kicked by Kieran Hill whilst Bedwas crossed for a total of 6 tries with two for Alec Jones and one each for Craig Hudd, Owen Jones and Jordan Rees plus a converted penalty try. The other points came from a pair of penalties for James Hallett and a penalty for Dion McIntosh

The Keys make a handful of changes to the side that lost heavily to Pontypool last Saturday. In the front row Owen Peddle and Zac Hewlett both return to start in place of Richard Cornock and Connah Vaughan at loose head prop and hooker respectively. In the second row Scott Andrews will captain Keys on his 100th appearance for the club and he partners Callum Hague who replaces Harvey Reader alongside him. The back row sees one change in personnel where Spencer Gibson comes in to replace Chris Johnsey. Gibson’s inclusion at number 8 means Gwion Jones moves across to the blindside flanker role. In the back line Loui O’Brien moves up to outside half from full back with Curtis Povey slotting in to the number 15 shirt. On the wing Dan Hitchings is fit again to start in place of Adam Tetley who moves in to the centre to replace Wes Cunliffe who is named as a replacement.

The Cross Keys side in full for Saturday’s game is:-
