Cross Keys v Carmarthen Quins Team News & Preview

Cross Keys will kick off the festive season this Saturday when Carmarthen Quins visit Pandy Park for the latest Principality Premiership clash.

Earlier this season The Keys visited Carmarthen Park and were soundly beaten by the Quins who, following an excellent attacking performance in the first half in particular came away with a 41 points to 28 victory, although a spirited second half comeback from Keys meant they did rally for a hard earned, 4 try bonus point. Points for the Quins in that game came from a try apiece for Ed Siggery, Elis Lloyd, Dale Ford, Liam Davies, Dylan Morgans and Tom Ball with Aled Thomas kicking 4 of the 6 conversion attempts plus a penalty for his side. The Keys points came from tries by Gerard Ellis, Leon Andrews and Izaak Duffy plus a converted penalty try, with Jason Tovey adding the remaining 6 points with 3 conversions.

After last week’s game at Bridgend was postponed due to the atrocious weather that battered the area in the hours before kick-off, The Keys have been able to keep changes to a minimum and make just 3 changes to the side that would have started against the Ravens last week. In the backs the only change sees Joe Goodchild come back in to the Keys side after his exploits with Wales sevens in recent weeks. He replaces Rory Budina on the wing with Budina moving to the bench. Jason Tovey will start for Keys even though he has been named as a replacement for the Dragons for their clash with Cardiff Blues on Friday evening. Up front both changes occur in the front row where Richard Cornock moves across the scrum to tight head prop to replace Scott Evans who is injured so Gary Carpenter comes in to replace Cornock on the loose head. On the bench prop Corey Hewlett could make his return from a shoulder injury he picked up at Cardiff earlier this season.
